Play Worker, After School Club

We are looking for an enthusiastic Play worker to join our popular After school Club as soon as possible. The post is temporary with a view to becoming permanent. Hours to be worked are 10 hours per week (3 – 5 pm Monday to Friday); however some flexibility above these 10 hours will be required and paid for on a time sheet basis. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and self-motivated Sports Centre Attendant to help run our sports lettings.

The working hours will be weekends and evenings.


Whilst a background/qualification in sports and fitness would be desirable, our main focus is on employing an individual with marketing flair and a vision to develop our current Sports Centre and creatively increase the school’s revenue through the hire and lettings of these excellent facilities.

The main elements of the role will be the general smooth running of the Sports Centre, setting up the main Sports Hall for group and club bookings, to supervise the fitness suite and squash courts, to actively promote the Sports Centre and to undertake administrational duties with relation to bookings, invoicing and taking payments. The successful candidate will also be required to be a key holder for the centre and will be responsible for opening up and securely locking the premises. General cleaning and equipment maintenance duties are also required and are an integral part of the role. Previous experience is not essential, but you must have or be willing to undertake the full 3 day First Aid Qualification.

This appointment will be subject to a full Criminal Records Bureau Check, 2 satisfactory references and successful completion of the 3 day First Aid Award.

The initial core hours of the contract will be 16 hours per week;

52 weeks (holiday entitlement will apply but will be pro-rata to the hours of contract):

Student Services Department

The staff of the College’s Student Services section work as an integrated and flexible team to support the pastoral guidance and tutorial systems of the College. The main aim of the section is to contribute to the personal development of students through an expanding range of services. Currently its main priority is to enhance careers education and guidance, employer and community links and counselling. Student Services also supports the tutorial programme throughout the year and organises Careers, Employment and Higher Education Events for parents and students. Student Services offers a full programme of individual guidance interviews and support plus specialist extended careers programmes to support applications to a variety of professions.

All students are given the opportunity to participate in Work Experience either as part of a vocational course or as an optional addition to their timetable to help with career decisions.

A professional counselling service is available to all students in the College. There is a dedicated room for counselling within Student Services. Counselling is currently on a self-referral basis although students may be advised to seek professional counselling.

Student Services benefits from the involvement of outside agencies, including health and volunteering.

Student Services offers spacious, attractive and purposeful accommodation to students and staff. It has a very well stocked Resources Centre, a main teaching area with tutorial and consultation rooms as well as offices for staff. A ‘drop in’ enquiry and reception service is available throughout the day.

Student Services also works closely with external agencies including the Worcestershire Education Business Partnership and the Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, the 12-19 Engagement Team and a range of employers and HEIs.
