Teacher of Geography MPS

Full Time and Permanent
Required From: As soon as possible

An opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking, energetic and enthusiastic Geography teacher to join our department

An opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking, energetic and enthusiastic Geography teacher to join our outstanding department.

Post 1. Teacher of Geography MPS

Curriculum
Our GCSE curriculum is varied and engaging and all students study ‘higher’ level GCSE geography using the AQA A specification. From the start of the course, students are presented with detailed and complex processes to embed their learning of each topic. This understanding is cemented using specific case studies chosen by the department to suit the students needs. Geography is a very popular subject within the Academy and we see a consistently high uptake for the subject at both GCSE and A Level. We are dedicated to and highly ambitious for our students and this is evidenced in the many interventions we have in place to secure our students’ excellent progress and attainment. Last summer’s GCSE geography entries secured 81% A*-C and 30% of our students achieved A* - A grades. In addition, 50% of students achieved A - B grades in A/S level geography and 100% attained A*-E at A2.

Facilities
The department follows the AQA exam board at both GCSE and A Level . We are well resourced, enjoying excellent facilities with every room newly refurbished and equipped with desktop and projectors. The department has a broad range of schemes of work, developed with students’ individual needs in mind and alongside these, has a library of resources accessible to the whole team. The department is currently engaged in providing an extensive range of field trips across the curriculum and students have recently partaken in an overseas study tour to Iceland (for A Level students) that proved extremely popular and was an enjoyable experience for all students involved. Other field trips include a residential in North Wales, river studies at Carding Mill Valley and tourism investigations in Stratford-upon-Avon.
